  Today the challenge is  five foods.

Well, that’s difficult because there isn’t much food I dislike.

And if I start talking about my memories of foods, it would take so long, I could well die in this chair before I finished.

So I asked myself, if I were left with only five foods in the world to live on,

 what five foods would I choose?

These are my five:

 

Salmon intended for consumption as food

This means sockeye salmon, it’s my favorite. I will not turn my nose up at steelhead or pink but given only one, it would be red sockeye salmon. Baked, fried, barbecued, over pasta, in sandwiches, smoked or over the campfire, love this stuff.

 

Porridge

Unadorned is just fine. Even cold. Nice with milk, not cream and a few raisins or apples chopped in but I’m good with plain old bare-naked oatmeal, too. Breakfast, lunch or dinner of championesses, lol

 

 

 

Fall Blue Berries

Did you know there are no other blueberries after you have feasted on Nova Scotia blueberries? Well, for me, there aren’t, lol. Love those things and they are precisely the blueberries I mean when I mention them here. No other compares to the tiny, flavor amped morsels gathered wild from bushes in fields there.

 

 

 

Broccoli

Cold, hot, as a snack, as a main dish, or a side to a dinner, broccoli never goes out of style on my plate.

 

 

Yam vs. sweet potato

This means yams, no yellow or white potato fleshed imposters, lol. The orange flesh tastes so creamy good, there is no condiment that can make a yam taste better in my opinion. Just straight up pure good food baked in its own jacket and pass me a fork :)

The colour orange is said to stir the appetite, hence my kooky text colour was quite deliberate. The question is, did it work? I don’t know about you but I am getting pretty hungry now.

Yes, I have read Dr. Andrew Weil well and I know who Doctor Oz is, among many others I’ve read who know much more than I ever will about healthful eating. But I would have chosen these foods anyway just because I love them so. That they are good for me is a happy bonus!
