My friend who is in hospital from a heart attack has a wicked funny sense of humour and seems to be improving daily.
Headachy and just generally feeling unwell today I opted not to visit her and hang about home in my pyjamas, my first full day at home in ages. So I called her for chat visit.
“What did you have for dinner tonight?” I asked, keeping the conversation light because I know she can be overheard by her three roommates, their guests and the hospital staff.
“Shepherd’s pie,” she said. “But I would rather have had the shepherd.”
We laughed so hard, I worried it might trigger a second coronary. But sometimes I think what comes out of her mouth will give me a heart attack, it’s so darn funny. Sweet is my Sunday in the knowledge my friend is getting better, her humour intact.
Wishing you a all a sweet Sunday, Shepherd, Shepherd’s pie or neither, lol.
But here’s my recipe for vegetarian Shepherd’s pie:
Ingredients Mashed potatoes for topping Your favorite vegetables and beans mixed with a pound of ground veggie/soy along with lots of onion, whatever gravy/broth you personally prefer to make or buy. Directions Brown the ground veggie protein in a pan with onion, add the veggies, sauce or gravy. Pour into casserole dish. Top with mashed potatoes and bake 325-350 for 30 to sixty minutes depending on the size of casserole dish and whether you make a double recipe or not. Even non-vegetarians loved it and ate it in my home and loved it without knowing what I had done. Have fun and happy Sunday, all

Did you here of the three spies in occupied France in WW2?
One of them worked where they manufactured the Francs for the Vichy Government. He was the Mint-spy.
One of them worked on a sheep farm. He was the Shepherd-spy.
One of them worked for a man who had several salmon fisheries on the coast. He used to travel to each of them in turn and clean out the water-filtration system. He was the go-filter-fish-spy.
I’ll get my coat…

Lovely. So glad she’s doing well and that her humor came through intact. That, of course, in my book is the most important trait!
so true, so true, it is such good news
I like your friend’s sense of humor. It suggests to me that she will pull through just fine.
That is exactly what we are all hoping it is evidence of. When the spirit is willing…
