-I meant to do that. (Ms. Jackiepants who knows how to right a wrong with a turn of phrase to this day and still giggles the same way as well – thinking of that makes me giggle, too
-Jumped up Jesus or variations thereof said by Mom. Another natural-born phrase turner who provided many to choose from. A sister and I spent a week peeing our pants with her in 2007. The funniest part is that she was serious. She didn’t mean to make us laugh and the more serious she became the more we laughed until all three of us were teary. Good times.
-Sharon, where’s my bear? (niece stomping down hall way barefoot in footless pink sleepers about age 2-3, red curls behind her and hands on hips
-Oh, My God, I justh wish he would hurry up and die. (3-4 yr old niece rolls eyes heaven ward with all the exasperation of a grown woman at her father moaning sick because he ate and drank too much on a holiday)
-We couldn’t see a barn thing! said a third niece of adult legs blocking her view at an auction in Ontario, said over the phone so emphatically, I could only giggle to myself while the phone shook from that in my hand and I remained ever so understanding and did not correct her to darn because it was just too barn cute
-Hey, Jan, the rockth got eyebrowth! yet another niece who nailed the media when she was only about 8 yrs old and they kept cancelling her cartoons – to yet again rerun the tragic passing of a public figure:
-Shuts tv off, stomps out of room saying: “OHHHH, JEEEZ! If they keep doing that, I’m just not gonna’ care anymore!”
Still makes me howl to this day. Okay, I’m nuts. But then I laugh in all the places one is not supposed to: the library, church, weddings etc, it just blurts out of me over the silliest things. I think it’s a nervous reaction to any sort of hint of an Archie Bunker “Stifle!” coming on whether it be atmospheric tension or stuffiness of any sort … I just lose it and giggle, snicker, whatever.
The thing that most jumps out at me about what I have just written is that even a small child can become so desensitized by the media when a tragic car crash is so over played that the child actually probably no longer cares… it’s just another car accident…suicide…shooting… No wonder some people behave like such machines out there, I mean in here, what is happening to us…
Did I say I’m not as popular as I once was?
Well. That’s me for today. Tapped again.
Hope to be here longer next time with more that actually matters.
Word wrestling. Not always a pretty day but wishing you one just the same
