Never assume anything, my darlings, for everyone has a back story. The details of yours might very well shock the world. If you were to share it.
What we think we see is never exactly so. Were we to delve into or, happenstance, discover a bit of background, we might find ourselves shocked. Shocked that so many look so great and do so well in life despite all the horrible firestorms in life they have risen above. And carried on.
Sharing with others is a good, healthy thing to do. In an appropriate way without appropriate people. That I cannot help you with. I hardly know who in my world is appropriate for anything any more. Every single day something else changes, sometimes for the better, sometimes not in our fast-paced world of managing gadgets that were meant to make our lives better and easier to manage. I’m more interested in going unplugged these days than acquiring the latest gadget. That’s my big share today.
Still, this is neither an attempt to share nor invite sharing, just a bit of motherly advice. If you were my children or my friend or anyone at all I cared about, I would tell you,
“Never assume anything. Ask everything.”
Knowing what we know does not come from assuming anything. Knowing what we know is the product of questioning and researching. If none can be done, it follows nothing can be concluded.
Life really isn’t that difficult. Yet many insist, persist and will not desist from the almost deadly sin of assumption. They sit wearing egg on their faces, eating crow and swallowing gulps of gumption they had no right to in the first place.
Let us not be so arrogant as to be among them.
All My Relations
